Chambers is sad to announce that one of its founding members Richard “Dick” Benson, passed away peacefully this morning.

Dick, along with a number of others had the brave and, at the time, unique vision of a criminal only set of chambers in the City of Nottingham, a vision which, over the last 27 years has provided many barristers with the opportunity of successful careers both at the Bar and on the Bench. He of course, following a successful career at the Bar, went on to distinguish himself in the role of Crown Court Judge.

Dick had been ill for some time, but as those who knew him might suspect, he fought his illness with great courage and fortitude together with a good measure of humour and irony.

He will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be Friday 22nd September 2pm at Bramcote Crematorium.
